Launceston - and Fairy Penguins!!!

We are only in Launceston for 2 days.  Today, we slept in, visited an awesome auto museum, checked out the Queen Victoria Museum, did a short boat ride to the Cateract and SAW FAIRY PENGUINS!!!! 🐧🐧🐧 They are tiny little things that come in from the ocean after night fall and sleep in burrows under the bushes.  The males 'sing' to attract a girl to the burrow they make.  It was very cold on the North Coast, but so worth it!

Hot day in Hoi An

Vietnam is in the Northern hemisphere which means as we head South, towards the equator, Hanoi was warm, Hue hot, and Hoi An very hot.  We left early to see My Son Sanctuary before the real heat of the day.  These temples were built earlier than Angkor Wat by the Champa people.  Like Angkor, it was lost the the jungle, until it was rediscovered by the French who removes the heads from the statues, removed anything of value (including the king's body) and shipped the lot to The Louvre.  Later, American B52s bombed the site.  Despite all this it is a beautiful site.  After lunch and a rest, we went to the Bamboo Circus.  These artists were amazingly skillful and the bamboo apparatus' were inventive and unique.  A good day.

So, we rented a little place....

So, we fell in love with a villa, and we move.in Sunday! Welcome to the Villa Raja. We certainly feel like royalty.  The art and architecture is really over the top and it is much bigger than we need.  We are hoping that our friends new and old help us fill it with fun!  Care to visit?
