Yeah, we climbed this.

After breakfast we climbed Lion Rock.  It was hot and difficult and we are done now.

Day 1, Sri Lanka

Image
We arrived safely in Sri Lanka very late on Friday night.  Our driver Sanda was there to meet us and we spent the night at the Olina Airport hotel. Bright and early at 10 am we were off to drive to Sigiriya.  Sanda kept us well provisioned with breaks for fresh coconut juice, tea, snacks, lunch and fresh fruit.  The highlight was the Elephant Safari.  We saw a lot of elephants just living their best lives in a national park.

Term 3 is Toast!

Image
Rams did it again!  Another amazing term at Green School Bali is over!  Highlights include  service learning in The Mangroves, an advanced class in Ancient Civilizations and 3 sets of visitors!  Now it is over and we head to Sri Lanka and The Maldives for a term break adventure.  Stay tuned!

Lunch & Shopping in Kuta

Image
On our way out to Thailand, John came up with the plan to eat at Jamie Oliver's in Kuta.  This would have entailed a 30 min taxi ride there, and another 30 back to the airport on a day all the temples were having processions to the water for Nyepi.  We didn't go, but the desire remained.  Today in preparation for travel we made the big trip to the Uniqlo store in fabulous Kuta, and there it was.  Jamie Oliver's.  We asked the driver to drop us early so we could do this bucket list item.  LOL.

A Dental Cleaning

Image
I have deep trauma about my own dental care steming from lots of childhood treatment pre-novocain.  I have tried to be really responsible with my kids, but Ramses' 6 month cleaning in Bali stretched to 8 months.  With much trepidation I took him to SG Dental Solutions this morning.  SG is a beautiful, modern office with terrific staff, marble floors and a plunge pool. Perhaps it was a spa in a past life?
